[OPEN TO: Ukitake & Unohana, perhaps a student passerby] A Subtle Lunch

Ukitake was quite punctual most of the time, and got into his little Honda civic, pearly white in color, at quarter to 11 o' clock to go pick up his date.

His trunk held the picnic basket, which was packed with handmade sandwiches, cookies, chocolates, soup in a thermos, silverware for two, plates and bowls for two, tea also in a thermos, and tea cups for two. The blanket was folded neatly at the top, and he put ice packs around the things that needed to stay cool, just in case. It was in the trunk to make sure that Unohana didn't catch sight of it-- or it wouldn't be a surprise anymore!

It was a nice Spring day out, and he was glad for it. He had planned it for the weekend according to the weatherman's report, but whoever trusted him? He passed the park that he planned on taking Unohana to, and it was thankfully empty. He tried to come during the weekdays sometimes to read, and there must've been something in the air that drove children crazy, and they were positively obnoxious.

His random thoughts occupied him, and unfortunately, almost made him miss the turn he needed to take to pull into the parking lot. A few minutes later and he was at her door, straightening his light blue dress shirt out and shaking a leg to dislodge a fold in his khaki slacks. He knocked on the door, smiling, and waited, a small bunch of daisies, daffodils, and some purple irises in hand, and an inconspicuous handkerchief in his pocket.

Unohana had just put down the morning newspaper when she heard the door. Ah, that must be Jyuu-chan, she thought, a smile playing on her lips. Rising to answere the door, she hesitated over mirror beside the hatstand and cast a swift, critical glance at her reflection. Her simple daydress appeared decent enough for whatever he had planned. After checking to see that it was indeed her date, she opened the door and bade him enter. "Morning, my dear. Feeling better today?" she enquired, gesturing for him to come in while turning around quickly to hide the blush at the flowers that he had in his hand.
He held the flowers out to her and gave her a sunny grin. "I'm feeling just fine, thank you." He swooped down to place a light kiss on her cheek and continued, "And a wonderful morning to you. You look beautiful. ♥ Are you ready to go?"
"Flatter ♥, that will get you everywhere," she laughed and returned him a peck on the check. Upon grabbing a cardigan and closing the door behind her, she slipping her hand at his elbow as if it was the most natural thing to do and asked, "What exactly are our plans for the day?"
He pulled his arm away playfully and wagged a finger at her. "Ah-ah! That's a secret and you know it. ♥ Now come here dearest. ♥" He pulled the handkerchief from his pocket and held it up. "Do you trust me?"
Raising a mobile brow in an admixture of surprise and amusement, she pursed her lips tightly. Oh, he's being cheeky today, she mused, deciding that she would indulge him. "And here I was thinking we had no secrets from each other," she sighed in mock disappointment. "You know I trust you implicitly. ♥ Now, tell me what madness is this?"
"Nope nope~! Since it's a secret, there's a rule that you're not allowed to know-- it's a surprise!"

He captured her shoulders and spun her around, her back facing him, and he gently tied the handkerchief over her eyes, careful not to tie her hair in the knot.

Smiling, he slipped his hand around her waist and began to lead her off towards the staircase, being careful to give her detailed instructions in a timely manner-- namely, telling her when to step down when they got to the next stair. It was harder than it looked!
"Jyuu-chan ♥," she tried to speak when she found herself blindfolded. "We are a little too old for these kinds of games, no?"

Tightly grasping his hand anyway as he led her down the stairs, she earnestly hoped that no one would see her in this state. After nearly stumbling over a step, she joked, "If I don't turn up for class next week, you will have to explain to the students. You know, it would be faster, if I could see where I was going, or if someone carried me."

"Are you..." in one fell swoop, he'd picked her up bridal-style, "hinting at something?" He laughed and trotted down the rest of the stairs, spinning around once as he reached the bottom. "You, my love, are far too light. Have you been eating properly?"

It probably wasn't too bright of him to spin around while she was blindfolded, but she had said that she trusted him~ ♥
"Hinting? Whatever do you mean? You mean you don't want to?" she said in a tone of perfect innocence, blushing when she felt herself being carried and spun around. "You're incorrigible!" she laughed. "I have been eating when I can. Shouldn't I be the one asking you whether you've eaten properly?"
"Of course I don't want to-- you exercised your womanly hypnotic techniques and I'm currently moving against my own will. So incredibly terrible of you! ♥"

A man passed by them and stared for a few moments, and then carried on. He thankfully didn't say anything, which meant that Unohana probably didn't notice. He continued on as though nothing had happened, "And I'm also not the one that feels ten pounds lighter than she should be."

Wait, that didn't... sound right... "...Assuming I'm a she, and all, of course."
"Ah yes," she laughed, still blushing a little. "Poor dear, you mean I compelled you? You could have asked and I would have acceded quite easily.♥"

She leaned back into his chest and sighed with some resignation. He may be a bit of a cheeky rascal, but he was her rascal. "I know what you mean, dearest. And I'm not all that light. You must be imagining things.♥ Unless you were thinking of this as some of practice?"
"I suppose I won't mind very much this time. ♥ Practice for what?"

He got to the car and maneuvered his hand out from under her knees to unlock the passenger door, keys in hand. He set her in the seat gently and buckled the seatbelt over her, and then trotted to his side of the car.
"Surely, you don't expect me to say it directly!" she exclaimed in scandalised accents, colouring once again. "You know," she continued vaguely, "What you intimated you thought I was hinting at.♥"

Once safely asconded in the seat, she sought to apply for the removal of the blindfold. "May I remove it now?"
"Aaahhh~ You tease~! ♥" He winked, though aware that she couldn't see it. "You may not. Lower your hands before I take them away! ♥" To prove his point, he took one and nibbled on her finger, then shook a finger at her in a scolding manner. "Take that as a warning, young lady."

He turned on his blinker and turned left shortly after, then continued on down the road.

[[OOC: Sorry, MSN was eating all of my messages. ;__;]]
Lightly flicking her wrist in the direction of his voice when he nibbled on her finger. So, he would not remove the blindfold. "Naughty! I had not expected this of you! ♥ Now, where we are going? What mischief are you up to?"

[OOC: MSN has a habit of going off-skelter like that! No worries. luffles!]
"Caaaaan't tell~! It's still a secret~! ♥ But we're close, don't worry." He assumed the blindfold was starting to unnerve her, so he went a few miles faster.
To own the truth, the blindfold was beginning to unnerve her, however, she managed to keep her wits about and merely commented, "So, you are up to mischief! You know, if you want to kidnap me, there are easy ways about it."
One more turn aaaand...

"All right, we're here." He parked the car in the parking lot and got out, getting the picnic basket out of the trunk before going to her side of the car. He opened the door and said, "Wait here for a few moments, and I'll come right back to get you. Want the radio on?"

He would just take her, but she'd hear the dishes clanking and know right away what was up.
"Leaving the radio on would amuse me for a while," she answered, still trying to figure out the scheme her beloved seemed to be plotting. "I'll give you ten minutes. If you don't reappear by then, I'll assume you've abandoned me♥."
He reached over her and flipped the radio on, switching to preset 2; classical. Six presets, and they spanned the gamut of music. Oldies, classical, alternative rock, R&B, an alternative easy-listening station, and a foreign music station.

The silver-haired teacher ran off then, shutting the door and sprinting to the spot he'd picked out the other day. It had just the right amount of sun and shading, and it overlooked the quaint little lake.

It didn't take him long to spread the blanket and set all the dishes up, the food staying in the picnic basket just in case prying fingers happened to pass by [though the spot was fairly secluded], and in seven minutes approximately he was back at the car.

"Come along then, my dear." He reached across her and unbuckled the seat belt, then took her hand to guide her out of the car, his other hand hovering over her head just in case she came close to hitting the frame.
"About time," Unohana muttered with a note of amusement in her voice as she tightly gripped his hand out of some fear of the unknown (not that her countenance would betray such an emotion of course). "I was beginning to despair that you would not return. Now, why the big secrecy and what is it for?"
"Because it's a secret!!" he huffed, his cheeks puffing in childish annoyance. He shut and locked the door, then set the alarm with a light beep, and then led her towards the picnic site.

It wasn't a long walk, and when they arrived, he stood her in front of where she was to sit and then he said, "Okay, it's time to reveal my secret~!"

He gently untied the knot at the back of her head and let the kerchief fall to the ground, smiling, his hands resting on her shoulders. He leaned in close and whispered, "Surprise, my love~ ♥"
"Really now, my dear," she laughed indulgently at his little whim, "One would think you were plotting something unspeakable!"

However, the moment the blindfold came off and she adjusted her eyes to the light, she was greeted with the sight of the picnic things all arranged neatly before them. "Oh, you shouldn't have gone through the trouble!♥" she exclaimed, impulsively throwing her arms around his neck and kissing him lightly on the lips. "I would have been happy to spend time with you without all this.♥"
Ukitake kissed her back, smiling, and motioned for her to sit down. He walked to his side and sat down before he answered, "Yes, but this way is so much more fun. ♥"

He unpacked the picnic basket and began to lay things out, some of them going straight to his plate, and then he looked up and grinned, rubbing the back of his neck. "Help yourself?"
"No, no," she said, picking up a slice of fruit and gesturing him for him to open his mouth. "You first, dear!♥"
